Met Schroll sent the following as a thank you for the cards and words of sympathy on the recent passing of Dave Shroll:
“The angels came down and took (Great) Grandpa to heaven today.” Our beloved
Great Grandpa, Grandpa, Dad and Husband, Lester David Schroll died
peacefully at 5:50am on Sunday, August 24th. He was 85 years old.
We will all miss Dad’s beautiful smile, endearing personality, and quiet
but ever present faith in God. A life-long Methodist, Dad was very active
in the Morton UMC in Morton, Illinois; Seaside UMC in Sunset Beach, NC and
most recently a member of Church of the Resurrection, in Leawood, Kansas. He
and Mom helped launch the COR Livestream church services at Silvercrest
Retirement Home, one of many ministry areas they shared over their 50 years
of married life.
Dad and Mom’s devotion to one another was a gift they daily gave to each
other. Dad was my Mom’s best suez chef, always ready and willing to help out
with any family meal. Mom returned Dad’s love with her unselfish and
constant care. She was the best nurse my Dad could ever have, especially
this last year.
Before retirement Dad was a Farm Accountant. He loved all aspects of outdoor
life. Favorite activities were golfing, gardening, bird watching, and when
younger, track and skiing.
Those Dad loved with all his heart include his beloved wife, Metzell
Schroll, daughter Donna Ackerman, son Jeffrey Schroll; brother Dean
Schroll; sister Jeanne Aden; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his brother, Don, and son, Steve.
Should a memorial contribution be a way to remember and support Dad in his
new journey, you can join us in supporting ….Church of Resurrections
Weekend Back-pack program for hungry kids who take food home for week-ends.
A private gathering of family and friends to remember and celebrate Dads
life will be held at a later date.
The Date is September 6th at 1pm. Ashes will be enturned later. The service
will be at Silvercrest retirement Home where they lived.
