Week two of STARS is almost over and each day we learn more about our children, their families, our community and each other. This “Volunteer Thank You” will remain for the duration of STARS as there is no way to adequately thank each of you for your contribution to our kids. Every week I’ll highlight some of the “behind the scenes” volunteer activities…
Did you know that each day we have a driver that goes to West Brunswick High School to pick up our meals from Child Nutrition Services. These dedicated drivers (there are four) come to the church, pick up our coolers, drive to the high school, count, ice, load and travel back to the church with the days lunch and tomorrow’s breakfast.
Field trips are a big part of STARS and we have drivers who have had an opportunity to drive the new “Seaside bus” taking both children, volunteers and snacks to a variety of places. During the first two weeks, the STARS students have visited the Sunset Beach Fishing Pier, Library and the First Tee. Tomorrow they will travel to the Library for the second time.
Each day our volunteer drivers and their “side-kicks” (chaperones) pick up and take home students that, without transportation would not be able to participate.
Drivers and chaperones – thank you!
