On June 24th and 26th the youth group from St. Paul’s UMC in Spartanburg, SC, joined up with youth from Seaside UMC for two days of missions and service in our community. Twenty youth and nine adults broke up into three groups and completed service work ranging from raking and mulching yards, to moving furniture at a domestic violence shelter, and constructing and installing two wheelchair ramps. Monday morning’s thunderstorm did not dampen the youths’ desire to serve! To help with the post-VBS clean up the youth disinfected all of the tables in the fellowship hall, as well as the desks, chairs, and toys in the pre-school. We started off both mornings with warm-up games and a devotional at SUMC. We had a wonderful time getting to know each other and learning what it means to serve God while serving our neighbors. Special thanks to Guy and Nancy Camino, Kitty White, Scott and Mary Jane Wilson-Parsons, and Elizabeth Queen for giving up part of their week to work with our young people!
