Sunday, August 19th in the Fellowship Hall
On Sunday, August 19th, representatives from all of our Ministry Teams will be available in the Fellowship Hall after each worship service. Come and find out what our teams do in service to our community of faith, and discover where God may be calling you to serve. Each team will have a table set up with details and information on all of the different pieces of their ministries. Serving in a congregational ministry not only gives you the chance to give back and use your spiritual gifts, but is also a way to meet more folks from Seaside and to connect and form even deeper relationships with your brothers and sisters in Christ. From teaching opportunities to outreach, Sunday morning greeters to Choir, there is sure to be a place where the Spirit calls you to serve!
Below is a listing of all of the ministries that will be represented at the Fair:
This team provides and plans opportunities for spiritual growth and discipleship through Sunday School, Bible Studies, VBS, Retreats and special events for Children through Adults.
This team is charged with the coordination of all church communications including the monthly newsletter, weekly emails, press releases, advertising, website and social media.
This annual event involves planning that lasts throughout the year. There is behind-the-scenes work of sorting donations all year, as well as “week of” opportunities to assist with setup. There are also many places to serve during the Fair itself.
Garden of the Disciples
This team of individuals works all year on the maintenance and beautification of the Garden of the Disciples. They also serve on a rotating basis as representatives of the Garden at each internment service that is held in the Garden.
Health & Wellness
This team cares for the physical needs of the Seaside family through programs such as blood pressure checks, a medical equipment loan program, meals for those who need temporary assistance due to illness and medical conditions, lay visitation to homebound and nursing facility members, support groups, education and many other health & wellness related needs.
Miss & Mr. Hellos
Seaside depends upon volunteer receptionists to answer our phones and greet visitors to the office during the week. Each shift is usually two hours. Volunteers can serve on a regular schedule or serve as “fill-ins.” This is a great way to meet new people and serve Seaside. Complete training is provided.
Our Music ministry provides worshippers each week with the opportunity to have their spirits lifted in song. Our Choirs present Cantatas at Christmas and Easter as well as others special programs throughout the year and our Handbell groups offer a unique sound to worship.
This team focuses on providing folks with opportunities for social and spiritual support through ministries such as Hospitality, DivorceCare, Special Friends of Seaside, Prayer Warriors and other engagement events.
This group directs Seaside’s mission to the community and world around us. From designating funding to outside groups to finding new places for Seaside to reach, this team has a heart for missions and for reaching out beyond our church walls.
Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. Learn how to become a Stephen Minister, or if you are in need, how to have a Stephen Minister assigned to walk alongside you.
United Methodist Men
UMM is a group of men who meet once a month for fellowship and host a variety of speakers from the community. They are also engaged in outreach and giving to the community through various fundraisers including an Annual Golf Tournament and Christmas Tree sales. All men are welcome to be a part of this group. You do not have to be a member.
United Methodist Women
UMW is a group of women committed to holistic Christian living through spiritual growth, missions outreach and fellowship. UMW meets once a quarter as a whole group, and also has smaller Circle groups. Each Circle has a specific mission. All women are welcome to be a part of this group.
This ministry team is focused on journeying with people from the first time they visit Seaside through their first six months of membership. This is done through being a welcoming presence on Sunday mornings, hosting Guests Receptions after worship, providing guests with personal contact and information, holding a New Members’ Lunch and assigning New Member Companions to walk with new members as they find their place of belonging at Seaside.
Our Sunday worship services rely on the dedication and behind-the-scenes work of this team. From ensuring the Sanctuary is prepared to getting Ushers and Greeters and Communion Stewards in place, this team provides the organizational structure that allows for our services to be times of meaningful worship and communion with God and one another.
