Music

Music is an essential part of our ministry here at Seaside United Methodist Church.  Our outstanding choir assists in worship leadership at each of our Sunday worship services.  In addition, more than a dozen vocal and instrumental ensembles are in regular rehearsal to grace our services (some also participate in community events).  Three major musical events combine all of our musical forces and draw enormous crowds from all around South Brunswick County.  Kathryn Parker, director of Music ministries, and all of us here at Seaside invite you to consider participating in one of our music ministries.  Even if you don't sing, there may be a place for you behind the scenes, enabling the ministry in any of a number of ways.  Contact us for more information

8:00 Choir:

• The 8:00 Choir is open to youth and adults.  Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. from September to June.  Some 8:00 choir members choose also to sing in the 9:30 or 11:00 choir or the 9:30 praise team.  

9:30 Choir:

• The 9:30 Choir is open to youth and adults.  Rehearsals are on Thursday from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. from September to June.  Some members of this choir choose also to sing at 8:00 or 11:00, in the Praise Team or one or more vocal ensembles.

11:00 Choir:

• The 11:00 Choir is open to youth and adults.  Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm from September to June.  Some 11:00 choir members also choose to sing in our 8:00 or 9:30 choirs, in the 9:30 Praise Team, or on one or more vocal ensembles.

Praise Team:

• Our contemporary praise team helps to lead worship at our 9:30 am worship services.  Their repertoire includes a variety of Worship Praise Choruses.  The Praise Team consists of several singers, keyboard, percussion and other instruments based on suitability and availability.  They are always on the lookout for guitar players!  Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.

The Soaring Angels

• A Women's Ensemble consisting of 6 singers.  In addition to singing in church, the Soaring Angels also sing in the community.  Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 9:30 am.

The Choral C's

• A Men's Ensemble consisting of 6 singers.  The Choral C's rehearse on Thursdays at 4:45.

For His Highest

•  This mixed ensemble consists of 5 voices and is conducted by Lynn Wood.  Contact Lynn regarding rehearsal schedules

Classical Ensemble

• The classical Ensemble begins rehearsal in the fall and rehearses at 6:30 pm every other Tuesday.

Joyful Noise

• Joyful Noise consists of elementary aged children who love to sing.  We rehears from 5:00 to 5:45 pm on Wednesdays during the school year.

Jubilee Handbells

• The Jubilee Handbells is a full Adult Handbell Choir utilizing our 3 Octave handbell set.  Jubilee rehearses from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesdays from September to June

Seaside Belles

• Seaside Belles is a handbell quartet which rehearses from 11:00 to 12:00 on Wednesdays from September to June.

Joyful Ringers

• This is a children's handbell choir that rehearses  at 4:30 pm on Wednesdays during the school year

 Seaside Instrumental Ensemble

• This Ensemble group begins following Christmas and rehearses at 6:30 pm every other Tuesday
