United Methodist Women’s Purpose:

United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Seaside’s United Methodist Women offer several “Circle Opportunities” to gather, study, fellowship and serve.

Bible Study Circle: “Bad Girls of the Bible” by Liz Curtis Higgins
Led by Shirley Cornell (570-492-6562)
Begins: Monday, January 15 (10 weeks)
Some of the girls in the study were “Bad to the Bone,” others were “Bad for a Season, but not Forever,” and some were just “Bad for a Moment.” These infamous sisters, however, show women how NOT to handle the challenges of life. With her trademark humor and encouragement, Higgs provides a contemporary retelling of the Scripture with a solid verse-by-verse study to show how to avoid their tragic mistakes and joyfully embrace grace. Let these bad girls show you why studying the Bible has never been more fun.
Participants are responsible for purchasing their book which is available from many sellers.
The study is open to all women - you do not have to be a UMW member to participate.
Registration: Register by completing the form below, sign up in the Seaside Gallery hallway, or contact Shirley Cornell.

Reading Program

The Reading Program is a cherished United Methodist Women tradition that brings together members in mission as they explore, share and discuss the books.

To participate in the program, visit the Library located in the Gallery hallway. In the UMW Reading Program section you will find information on the reading program along with suggested reading lists for each category. New books are added to the library each year for your convenience.

Earning your Certificate of Recognition is just one way to show what you’ve gained from the Reading Program.

Prayer Shawl Circle

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a group of knitters and crocheters who create shawls, throws and lap blankets.  These  are given to those who have medical issues, who are mourning, or have other stressful situations. We also give them to celebrate joyous occasions such as graduations, ordinations, retirements, etc.   The shawls are meant to be “God’s hugs” for the recipients.
